What is the difference between an industrial camera and a normal camera

    Machine vision inspection technology has important applications in modern industrial production, and industrial cameras are one of the main components of machine vision inspection systems, playing a very important role in machine vision inspection systems. It's no stranger to bring up the camera, but the industrial camera used in the machine vision inspection system is much higher in price than the ordinary camera. What is the difference between the two?
     In terms of appearance and structure, industrial cameras are compact and sturdy, and can be easily operated in a poor environment. Ordinary cameras are generally aesthetically pleasing and portable, but cannot work continuously for 24 hours or more.
    Considering the particularity of the subject, the industrial camera has a short exposure time, so that it can capture objects moving at high speed. For example, attaching a business card to the fan blade, rotating at maximum speed, setting the appropriate shutter time, and capturing an image with an industrial camera can still clearly distinguish the font on the alias. For a normal camera that can only take 2-3 images per second, this is obviously not possible.
     In the way image sensors are scanned, industrial cameras are progressively scanned, while ordinary cameras tend to be interlaced or even three lines apart. The reason for this difference is that the progressive scan image sensor is difficult to produce, the yield is low, the shipment is small, and the price is expensive, and its advantage is that it can clearly capture fast moving objects, but this is not a normal camera. The urgent need, therefore, for ordinary cameras that pursue economic benefits, interlaced image sensors may be the best choice.
     In terms of the quality of the output image, the industrial camera outputs bare data, and the spectral range is wide, which is suitable for high-quality image processing algorithms; ordinary cameras are limited by the data storage space, and the image is often compressed, and the spectral range is only applicable to Human vision.
     Industrial cameras can work for a long time, such as 24 hours a day, 6 months of continuous work, but not for civilian use. Industrial cameras can work in harsh environments, such as colder temperatures. A typical digital camera can't do this. Industrial cameras are more expensive than ordinary cameras.
     Machine vision Ordinary cameras differ from industrial cameras. In short: a normal camera is a highly integrated micro-machine vision system; industrial cameras are part of a machine vision system.
      In addition to the above, industrial cameras and ordinary cameras also have significant differences in data interfaces, sensing bands, lens components, triggering methods, and parameter settings. Although the difference between the two is significant, it does not mean that the former is stronger than the latter. The key is to look at the application environment. The so-called industry has a specialization, daily shooting landscapes, characters, the pursuit of some special light and shadow effects, ordinary SLR cameras are definitely the best choice, but for industrial visual inspection applications, only professional and reliable industrial cameras can be competent.
